Mad Caddies - Drinking for 11
In “retaliation” to the incident, Punchline has created the site http://brokencydesucks.com/, making their newest album available for download on a by-donation basis. You can donate $0 if you want, too!
It would be unfortunate if this happened to any band, but it’s downright horrible and appalling that it had to happen to a truly great and talented band, Punchline. Not just that, but it was at the hands of brokeNCYDE. Before this, I had a friend who played me a song by brokeNCYDE, and I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It’s not music that they create. It seems they’re out to see what they can get away with. Sufficed to say I had a low opinion of them before this incident. I also think Punchline took a brave and bold step by putting up their album for free download, which they worked their asses off to make. All brokeNCYDE’s put online is reasons why they weren’t in the wrong. Punchline is a smaller band, yes, but they make honest music and they’re willing to put it out for free. They just want their music out there for people to enjoy. I can’t help but think that, somehow, this fight was about brokeNCYDE thinking they were the shit cause they have more fans.
There are plenty of articles and quotes on brokeNCYDE and the “music” they make, and don’t know any that puts them in a positive light. They are the band “everyone loves to hate”, and they advertise this ad nauseam. They revel in the fact that they’re hated, which is unfortunate. But now, people hate them for a different reason. And it’s deserved, in my opinion.
Up to this point, if I have met a brokeNCYDE fan or seen anyone wearing a shirt, I haven’t done anything. I have my own opinions of good and bad music, and if people want to listen to them, then they should go ahead. But now, I want to take a stand and speak my mind, and let these people know that they are going through a phase and they shouldn’t support bands like brokeNCYDE. They put awful messages in their songs and promote a lifestyle that is nothing people should try to emulate.
One of their members posted this on Twitter:
Crazy street brawl! Just fucked this guys face up. My bad!!!! BC boys destroyed those fools… BAD!
It’s really insane, that someone would want to brag about something like that. It’s not something you should be proud of. You and 5 other friends ganged up on 2 people. Whoopde-fucking-do.
I also have just read this article from Alternative Press, where Cory talks about the incident and gives his side of the story:
